With this message we start a serie of publications about projects, which our society completed during years of our existance.

Name of the project

Year 2004. Translation into Russian and publication of the book by Timofei Ksenofontovich Jaschik “Ryadom s Imperatritsei” (Next to the Empress), in association with the Danish Cultural Institute (St. Petersburg) and the Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Purpose of the project

In 2002 our society purchased an icon of Jesus Christ from the Alexander Nevsky church in Copenhagen, signed by life-cossack of the Empress Maria Feodorovna – Timofei Ksenofontovich Jaschik in 1946. We carried out a research, which led us to the grave of the cossack at the Assistens cemetery in Copenhagen. In the archive of the Royal Library of Copenhagen, we found a book of memories of T. Jaschik, which describes his service to the Emperor Nicholas II and His mother, Empress Maria Feodorovna. We translated the book into Russian language, which was originally published in Danish. We added numerous photos and documents from the archives. Thus, new, updated book was prepared for publication.

The book was supposed to be published to commemorate transfer of the remains of the Empress Maria Feodorovna from Denmark to Russia. (First agreement was achieved in 2004, but later postponed till 2006).

Result

The book was published in 3000 exemplars. Presentation was held at the Gatchina Palace (St. Petersburg)
