The monastic elder was a great defender and intercessor of Russian people. He was under a special patronage of Mother of God – who came to his view twelve times. “He is of our kind” – She said about him.
The Reverend Seraphim after much prayers received great gifts from God: the gift of “healing of the frail souls”, the gift of “epiphany“, that is, knowledge of the things to come, and the gift of “healing of the sick”…
God made many miracles through the Reverend Seraphim.
Prayer of Seraphim had such force that he could snatch a sinful soul from the clutches of satan and save it. The Reverend Seraphim was in a genuine battle with satan. Evil spirits embodied into monsters and rushed at him, causing him sometimes even serious wounds. But ” The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear?” — he stood up to the end.
Thousands of people received consolation through him from the Lord, they were healed, got rid of disbelief, many became monks.
Mother of God opened a spring for him near his hermitage and after his prayers made water in this spring healing diseases. Here, particularly in July 1903, when the glorification and finding of relics of St. Seraphim of Sarov took place, in the presence of Tsar Martyr Nicholas II and His family, many healings has happened: the blind began to see clearly, the lame got chance to walk, the deaf and dumb got rid of their ailments. All this took place in front of crowd, of huge mass of people.
“Sarovskaya Pustyn” is still closed for the public, but the re-born “Diveevskij” monastery is opened. This monastery holds acquired in 1991 the holy relics of the Reverend Seraphim. Son of a merchant from Kursk, simple Russian man was called by Lord to the great acts for the great nation.
